| Summary: | The 1199SEIU TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT FUNDS is a joint effort of 1199SEIU and contributing employers. Our mission is to develop high quality training, placement and labor-management initiatives. Through our efforts we aim to support the potential of healthcare workers to grow educationally and make a full contribution to building an efficient and caring health care industry. We also aim to develop the ability of union and management to problem-solve difficult issues and to create innovative solutions. Through our work we intend to create a world-class healthcare workforce and service delivery system. We are currently seeking an experienced Grant Project Liaison for our Nursing Home department |
| Description: |
- Responsibilities:
- Information Distribution/Communication liaison at 1199 affected facilities including, identifying most effective methods of communication at each facility (e.g. meetings, tabling, flyers, etc.); assist in creation of written materials which are clear and effective for target audiences
- Coordinate Grant Implementation with 1199SEIU Administrative Organizers (AO), Unit Officers, Delegates and members including, regularly meeting with union AOs and leaders in forums that are most effective at each facility to educate about grant benefits; identify, educate and train key Union leadership to outreach to affected workers who would benefit from implementation of grant; troubleshoot with AOs at each facility to engage management support for implementing grant.
- Facilitate Orderly Implementation of Grant in Response to Berger Recommendations including, working with grant Project Director, facility management and union representatives to plan, implement and evaluate the process of implementing Berger recommendations (i.e. identifying jobs to be affected in each)
- Work with Project Director to Identify 'Lifeboat' Employers for Affected Workers including, working with non-affected 1199SEIU employers and union representatives at such facilities to identify vacant jobs, prospective vacancies, training needs, and new job opportunities stemming from Berger impacts; assist non-affected 1199SEIU and other employers to provide 'priority' hiring agreements for Berger affected workers; assist with affected workers and affected employer to synchronize lay-offs and hiring between them potential jobs

| Qualifications: |
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in labor relations or education, counseling, career counseling or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
- Labor relations/ union experience a must
Ability to facilitate multiple activities.
- Computer knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and database applications preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and as a team player.
- Strong orientation to details.
- Excellent organizational, verbal communication, basic math and writing skills.
- Ability to travel to various work locations within a designated Upstate Area (must have valid Drivers License).
- Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends.
