Lynn and Barry Goldman, New Hampshire
Small Business Owners

Under Barack Obama's plan, self-employed people and small business owners like the Goldmans would get help getting access to health care in several ways:

* A new National Health Insurance Exchange would set up a pool of private plans and a public plan to give people like the Goldmans options for affordable care.

* Insurers would be required to cover "preexisting" conditions like Mr. Goldman's cancer.

* To provide insurance to employees small business owners would be eligible for a new Small Business Health Tax Credit.

Under John McCain's plan, people like the Goldman's would be encouraged to continue try to find affordable coverage on the open market, although McCain would make several changes that could hurt people like the Goldmans.

* Insurance companies would be less regulated, giving them more power to deny coverage to people with preexisting conditions like Mr. Goldman.

* To boost profits, insurance companies could "cherry pick" healthier customers by offering less expensive plans to younger people who have fewer health issues. Costs for people who need care for chronic illnesses would likely increase.

I find this quite odd. I just received in the mail today SEIU's "United Healthcare" supposedly factual voter guide. In it I see that you glean your information for Obama from his actual website. You obtain info on McCain's healthcare plans from every other source (CBS, NY Times, Wonkroom.thinkprogress.org, not at all objective) -- BUT his website.

In the above article, you again reference Obama's website for information, but state for McCain that your info is based on "SEIU analysis of McCain health plan". Can I trust you to be objective in your analysis? Doubtful.

It would seem to me that evidently you want to do everything possible to prevent people from visiting McCain's website and to prevent people from making a truly objective and informed decision. Heaven forbid if people might be swayed in favor of McCain.

This healthcare provider will be voting for John McCain. I invite the rest of you to actually visit the man's website and to make an INFORMED decision! In case you're wondering, his info can be found at www.johnmccain.com

I am deeply disturbed that my union is so blind and ignorant to the true facts in this election. Instead, is is choosing to print propaganda from the Obama campaign instead of actual facts. Isn't my union supposed to represent ALL employees, including those employees who do not support homosexual marriage, abortion, socialized medicine, higher taxes to pay for bigger government and thinly veiled socialism? If Obama is elected, Goverment spending will go sky high. Yes, we need a health care alternative, but you are not reporting the truth about Obama's plan. Yes, we need change, but let's not jump from the pan into the fire blindly.

On the one year anniversary of the election of Barack Obama, we stand on the precipe of real, progressive change. And after coming this far down the road to fixing health care, we can't let up now.
