Summary:

The Service Employees International Union, the nation's fastest growing labor organization with more than 2 million members, seeks campaign-oriented researchers to support the Property Services Division's Justice for Janitors, security officers, and residential worker campaigns.

Justice for Janitors and the security officer organizing campaigns are exciting national drives to win significant wage gains, health insurance, full-time work, and organizing rights for low-wage property services workers.

Description:

The Researcher will work together with organizing leads to develop and implement corporate, legal, legislative, and regulatory strategies and tactics to advance campaign goals. Work may also include tracking real estate trends, key real estate players; doing industry, company, and individual research; and recruiting, leading, developing, and mentoring staff.

This position will be based out of Seattle, but may include travel.

Qualifications:

• Enthusiastic commitment to building a strong property services union.

• Strong commitment to progressive social change and activist experience.

• Strong technical research skills and ability to apply research to development of strategic organizing campaigns.

• Experience in leading strategic/corporate campaigns in support of organizing and/or bargaining.

• Excellent writing ability; experience with a variety of computer-based research tools and good quantitative skills.

• Proven ability to lead research staff within a labor or progressive community organization.

• Excellent political and internal organizational skills.

• Ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment.

Preferences: Bilingual language skills a plus.
