Executive Assistant to President

Summary: SEIU Healthcare 775NW represents more than 38,000 long term care workers across the Northwest, including home care and nursing home workers. We are recruiting for an experienced, highly skilled, motivated, and successful person as Executive Assistant to provide administrative support to the President, 2 additional Exec Office staff and occasional support to the rank and file Executive Board members.

Description: The Executive Assistant provides administrative support and assistance to the President, is a key partner for the President in managing the President’s schedule and contacts, as well as supporting the Secretary-Treasurer/Chief of Staff and the General Counsel and provides back up support for the other officers as needed. The Executive Assistant also provides administrative support for the Executive Board and .meetings of the organization’s staff.
Qualifications: We are seeking an accomplished administrative support professional with a “what ever it takes” attitude, experience in providing support to busy executives, a true believer in the mission of our organization, a committed team builder. Political savvy a must, Key skills include writing, research, computer software (Office 2007), ability to learn our databases, and all of the usual office/administrative skills. Personal skills include the ability to multi-task and track multiple objectives, the flexibility to react quickly to changing circumstances, sound political judgment and diplomacy, quick learner for new technology. If you’re not supportive of worker mobilization, active political engagement, and wouldn’t thrive in an over-the-top organizational culture, this may not be the place for you. Ditto if you are turf-conscious, risk-averse or a change resister. A bachelor’s degree, previous work in politics or legislative affairs, experience in organizational change and business process improvement, experience with organizational governance, experience with legal correspondence and record-keeping, and experience with the labor movement are all big “plusses,” but are not strict requirements of the position and should not discourage you from applying if you feel that you are an otherwise strong match.
Preferences: Women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply.Fluency in Spanish, Russian, or Korean, or Vietnamese are also a plus but not required. Experience with sharepoint an added plus.
Compensation: Salary: $43,000- 50,000 or higher depending on experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits, including fully employer-paid family health coverage (including dental and vision coverage), a defined-benefit pension plan through SEIU, an optional 401(k), generous paid leave time, more.
