WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) launched a series of Spanish-language television ads as part of a multipronged campaign to mobilize Latino voters and hold Republicans accountable for blocking immigration reform this year.

The six-figure television ad campaign, featuring the ad "Dichos" ("Proverbs" in English), will air in Colorado, California and Nevada, and is aimed at mobilizing the Latino electorate to hold Republican Congressmen Cory Gardner (CO-4; current Colorado Republican candidate for U.S. Senate), Mike Coffman (CO-6), David Valadao (CA-21) and Joe Heck (NV-3) accountable to their record and that of the Republican House that stood in the way of immigration reform. The ad will also run on national Spanish-language television networks.

"We are launching campaigns in states and districts where we believe the issue of immigration reform can make the difference and shift the political landscape," stated Brandon Davis, SEIU's National Political Director. "This is the beginning of a long-term strategy to mobilize voters who stand with us on the need to fix our broken immigration system, and will take action to ensure that Republican obstruction comes at the cost of lost seats in November."

As the ads begin their two-week run, Tuesday's launch also includes a series of actions in key Republican congressional districts and headquarters. The sustained effort to hold GOP accountable will include targeted field, civic and media campaigns.

"The excuses, the blatant anti-immigrant rhetoric and their unwillingness to vote for immigration reform have made it abundantly clear to us all that Republicans are not interested in creating inroads or addressing the concerns of the Latino and immigrant community," stated Rocio Saenz, Executive Vice President of SEIU. "Republicans cannot hide behind irrational pretexts or lawsuits--we're calling them out on the most important issue for the fastest-growing electorate in our country."

"Congressmen Coffman, Gardner, Valadao and Heck are all part of a Republican Party that must face a large constituency of Latino voters and be held accountable to their party's consistent catering to anti-immigrant extremists," added Saenz. "And this is only the beginning. Today, we strike with ads and actions, but what's to come--from now until November--will ensure that Latino voters make an unprecedented presence at the ballot box and reject Republicans for blocking immigration reform and insulting our community."

ESPAOL:
Las acciones de los republicanos en el Congreso me recuerda del dicho de mi abuelita: dime con qui̩n andas y te dir̩ qui̩n eres.

or qu̩?

ENGLISH:

The actions of Republicans in Congress, remind me my grandma's saying: Tell me who you're with, and I'll tell you who you are.

Why? Because Republicans again and again insult our community, and blocked immigration reform.

And the worst: they have voted against our future and our DREAMERS.

This November, we must go to the polls and vote against Republicans.
