Rocio Saenz de SEIU: Afroamericano, Latino, Inmigrante... todas las vidas son importantes.

WASHINGTON, DC - Tras la decisin de hoy del gran jurado de no acusar el polica que dispar y mat a Michael Brown, que tenia 18 a̱os de edad, en Ferguson , Missouri, la Vicepresidenta Ejecutiva del Sindicato Internacional de Empleados de Servicio (SEIU, por sus siglas en ingl̩s) Roco Saenz emiti la siguiente declaracin:

Nuevamente, nuestra nacin se ve desafiada por una decisin que quebranta nuestros valores y nuestra confianza en la justicia. La muerte de Michael Brown nos hace recordar las heridas de nuestra historia, y la decisin tomada el da de hoy por el gran jurado reitera la necesidad esencial de continuar luchando por una sociedad justa y equitativa.

"Este es un momento de reflexin, pero es tambi̩n el momento de continuar los esfuerzos en busca de la verdad y la unidad. Aunque el Departamento de Justicia debe de priorizar la investigacin de la muerte de Michael Brown, debemos de unirnos por el bien de nuestros hijos y el futuro que buscamos para ellos.

"Afroamericano, Latino, Inmigrante... todas las vidas son importantes. Nos unimos con todas las comunidades de color y al amplio movimiento de derechos civiles--juntos, sabemos que nuestro trabajo est lejos de acabar."

WASHINGTON, DC - Following the grand jury's decision today not to charge the officer who shot and killed 18-year old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, the Service Employees International Union's (SEIU) Executive Vice President Rocio Saenz issued the following statement:

"Again, our nation is challenged by a decision that undermines our values and our belief in justice. The death of Michael Brown reminded us of our history's wounds and today's grand jury decision reiterates the crucial need to continue fighting for a just and fair society.

"This is a moment of reflection, but also a time to continue striving for truth and unity. While the Department of Justice must prioritize the investigation into the murder of Michael Brown, we must unite for the good of our children and the future we seek for them.

"Black, brown, immigrant... all lives matter. We stand with all communities of color and the broader civil rights movement--together, we know that our job is far from done."
