Being a woman is NOT a pre-existing condition

The American health care system is broken. No one knows this better than the thousands of women who are unable to get medical insurance because they are pregnant, had a Cesarean section or were victims of domestic violence. For too long, their voices have gone unheard. It's time to make sure our members of Congress hear their voices above those of the insurance lobbyists.

Schedule of events:

  • Wednesday: Women wearing "I am not a pre-existing condition" t-shirts will be flyering on Capitol Hill at noon in order to educate Hill staffers about women's health issues. Afterward, a smaller delegation will pay a visit to Senator Jon Kyl's office to discuss his position on maternity care.
  • Thursday: Senator Barbara Mikulski will hold hearings of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on the topic of women's health care at 10:30 am. To show our support for Sen. Stabenow, a group of women will attend the hearings wearing the "I am not a pre-existing condition" t-shirt.
