Yesterday, California Democrat Judy Chu won a special election in District 32 with almost 62% of the vote to become the newest member of Congress. "She's a dynamic leader and a woman of action, who stands up and fights for her beliefs, whether outside on a picket line with workers or inside the corridors of power," said Courtni Pugh, Executive Director of SEIU California State Council. SEIU members endorsed Chu in January and contributed their time and energy to her victory.

Statement from SEIU President Andy Stern on Senator Specter's announcement that he is switching political parties to become a Democrat:
