NOTICE OF OFFICER ELECTIONS

At the 2016 SEIU Convention, convention delegates will elect the International Union Officers and Board of Auditors.

The International Union Officer positions, which make up the SEIU International Executive Board (IEB), are described in the SEIU Constitution at Article VI. The SEIU Convention Call points out that Article VI may be amended by the Convention delegates. For example, the IEB has proposed a constitutional amendment to Article VI that increases the number of Executive Vice Presidents from six (6) to seven (7). If this amendment is adopted by the delegates at this Convention, the delegates will elect seven (7) Executive Vice Presidents, rather than six (6).

The two (2) Canadian Vice Presidents and two (2) Canadian Executive Board Members on the IEB will be elected the Canadian convention on May 20 in Detroit.

Article VI, Section 4 of the SEIU Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for office in the International Union.

Article VI, Section 3 of the SEIU Constitution describes the Board of Auditors that consists of eight (8) members.

Article V of the SEIU Constitution spells out the provisions that apply to the election process.

Delegates and interested members should also consult the Standing Convention Rules for the nomination and election procedures covering International Officer and Board of Auditors elections.
