The Facts
Who we are and our wins
SEIU began its organizing efforts in Virginia in 2006 and in 2012 we united our local chapters in Fairfax, Loudoun, and among Home Care providers across the Commonwealth. The Fairfax Deputy Sheriffs joined our ranks in 2013, and through political and community organizing, we collaborated with partners and allies to successfully overturn the ban on collective bargaining. Our membership continued to grow, and, in 2023, Richmond City workers became part of SEIU Virginia 512. Our union stands firm in the belief that all working families deserve dignity, respect, fair wages, benefits, and a voice in the workplace. With more than 4,000 members, we continue to grow stronger every day.
There’s no doubt about it: SEIU Virginia 512 is the union with a proven track record. We began organizing in Virginia in 2006 and have been making change happen ever since. SEIU members have always fought for city and county employees and home care providers to have a seat at the table and led the historic fight for strong collective bargaining rights and a collective bargaining ordinance in Fairfax County in 2021. We’ve also successfully ratified three collective bargaining agreements across the Commonwealth just within the past year!
And the wins continue. Just this month, we ratified two legally binding contracts in the City of Richmond and Loudoun County that lock in the competitive pay, benefits, and working conditions that we fought for and earned together in our union. Our neighbors have achieved success through SEIU Virginia 512, and now it’s Fairfax’s turn - vote YES for Fairfax to win what you are owed!
