Woodbridge, VA-- Kathy Cohenour, a personal care assistant and member of SEIU Local 5/Virginia Association of Personal Care Assistants will introduce Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate Senator Joe Biden at a community gathering in Northern Virginia this morning.

More than 1,300 personal care assistants across Virginia have united with SEIU Local 5/VAPCA to improve the care they provide and win better lives for themselves and their families. Personal care attendants in the Northern Virginia make $11.14 an hour with no healthcare benefits and no sick days.

"Everyday, I provide the care my daughter needs to stay in our home, go to school, and lead a normal life--but my paycheck barely covers the essentials and we have to rely on my husband's job for our health coverage," said Cohenour. "I've been telling everyone I know that they need to vote for Senators Obama and Biden because they have a plan to ensure that our families can get by and that we all have access to the affordable healthcare we need."
