This Wednesday, Maine's workers traveled to Washington, DC to meet with Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins. Our Maine workers are making the trip all the way down to our nation's capitol to personally urge the senators to support Maine's workers by saying YES to the Employee Free Choice Act. They made the trip; can you make a call to support them?
According to the Center for American Progress Report, union employees are more likely to receive higher wages and benefits than similarly employed workers not in a union. In addition to improving the situations of individual workers, an increase in unionization would benefit Maine's entire economy. According to the CAP Report, even a 5% increase in unionization among Maine's workers would pump $77 million would be into the state's economy. That's money that stays in Maine's economy instead of being shipped out of state.
So support Maine's workers in their quest for worker's rights: call Senators Snowe and Collins, and ask them to say yes to the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act. By making the call, you are lending your voice to the fight for worker's rights and taking a step to on the road to recovery to fix the economy for everyone in Maine.
