1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East is the largest, fastest-growing, most progressive healthcare union in the country, and we are looking for a Senior Graphic & New Media Designer to work out of our office in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

This position reports directly to the Massachusetts Communications Director (Political Action), but the work will be jointly guided with the help of New Organizing leadership. The workload overall will be evenly divided between membership/political communications and new organizing campaign communications.

+ Design mailers, flyers, booklets and other printed material for our political action, member mobilization and new organizing campaigns.

+ Design websites and email blasts from the ground up and maintain current campaign websites.

+ Design ads, t-shirts, billboards, picket signs and other public communications materials.

+ Coordinate with printing and mail house vendors to make sure materials are delivered on time and bills are paid in a timely manner.

+ Must be extremely fast, highly efficient and able to handle a heavy production schedule with multiple deadlines.

+ Bachelor's or masters in design strongly preferred.

+ Proficiency required in all necessary print and web design programs, including Quark, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop/Adobe Bridge, Dreamweaver, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash, ActionScript and multimedia production.

+ Ability to shoot, edit and produce short campaign videos preferred.

+ Excellent ability to work closely with a team, accommodate requests from team members, and assimilate input from multiple sources.

+ Excellent inter-personal skills, a positive, enthusiastic attitude and a commitment to contribute to a positive work environment.

+ An ability and commitment to modeling pro-active leadership behavior and skills.

+ Fundamental knowledge of databases preferred.

+ At least 4 years experience in hands-on web and print design and production.

+ Excellent visual, written and verbal communications skills.

+ Deep commitment to labor movement and progressive causes.

+ Prior experience working or volunteering for a progressive political campaign, non-profit organization or union preferred.

+ Experience taking quality digital photos preferred.

+ Must work well under pressure and be able to assimilate feedback from multiple team members.

+ Must thrive in an environment with tight deadlines, high-pressure and irregular hours.
