Today, SEIU home healthcare members closed their 48-hour vigil with a press conference on the steps of the California statehouse to protest drastic budget cuts which would drive home care workers into poverty and force seniors and people with disabilities into more restrictive and costly institutional settings, as reported in the Los Angeles Times and La Opinion. "They're talking about limiting the services to the most frail, elderly, handicapped individuals in our state and in our county," SEIU Executive Vice President Eliseo Medina told CBS 47.
Read about the ad campaign against the budget cuts to stop the cuts to home care workers' wages and the number of hours of in-home care. And then do something about it: send a message to the Governor telling him you strongly disagree with his misguided priorities.
