seiu.org TAKE ACTION

While many will be enjoying BBQs and beach time this weekend, SEIU advocates of healthcare reform will be pushing their Members of Congress and neighbors to support measures like a public health insurance option that increases choice and reduces costs.

Preview some of the Memorial Day activities, including storybook deliveries in Minnesota, "Kids for Healthcare" letters on display in Tennessee and the unveiling of a new report, "The Value of Reform: Why Reforming Health Care is Worth the Cost."

Good Morning.

I hope that everybody enjoyed their Memorial Day Weekend, but more importantly, I would like to give thanks to those that “gave all” so that we may enjoy the freedoms we do have. I would also like to take this moment to notice that during the entire Memorial Day Holiday, not a single mention of the reason for this holiday was made by our Union blog, and that the only mention of Memorial Day made on the SEIU International blog were the following posts:

“No holiday for Health Care and Employee Free Choice campaigns”
“Remembering the DC Labor Map”“
SEIU Healthcare Turns Up the Heat During Memorial Day Recess”

It should be noted that in none of these posts was a single mention of the reason for the holiday which was to “Memorialize” America’s fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who died in service to our nation, nor even a “Thanks” to the Service Men and Women who were fighting and yes, even dying this very weekend when we were spending time with our friends and families around Bar-B-Q grills across the nation.

I am truly saddened and ashamed to be a member of an organization that couldn’t even be bothered to take enough time to post a single thread thanking our honored dead for their service and sacrifice, but instead used it as just another opportunity to score political points in advancing ‘our’ Union’s agenda.

I often hear/read about ‘our’ Union’s ‘brotherhood,’ but it is becoming clear to me that as our Union (figuratively) stands upon the graves of my true ‘brothers’ and ‘sisters’ who laid down their very lives for me and who I have offered to lay down my life for in return, that this Union has no comprehension of the term ‘brother.’

I would say “Shame on this Union” but I’m beginning to think this Union has no shame.

Verum Ad Potentia
