This year during the Congressional Fourth of July recess, SEIU & Change that Works activists created fireworks across the country. Here are a few highlights:
- Senator Grassley in Iowa told
a constituent who asked for healthcare reform that provides benefits
comparable to those for Members of Congress to "go work for the

- Events in Fort Wayne and Evansville, Indiana, focused on the need for healthcare reform this year that makes healthcare affordable for every family.
- Activists in Maine highlighted the drastic costs of our healthcare crisis and families that have resorted to "Begging for Change." The story was picked up by the AP and published in over 300 newspapers! The recess activities urging Senator Snowe to support comprehensive healthcare reform appeared in the New York Times.
- Members and community partners held rallies for healthcare reform in Denver, Colorado Springs and North Dakota.
