Thanks to the amazing dedication of our activists, our last minute call for Senator Gregg's health care town hall last week was a rousing success. Although our activists had less than 24 hours notice, we still rallied strong and more than outnumbered the opposition of which...there was one? According to the Concord Monitor's coverage of the town hall, that is: "At Salem, Charlotte Goossens was the lone person demonstrating against the reform plan pushed by Obama."

Coverage of the event was uniformly positive. Multiple news events mentioned the amount of pro-reform supporters present--that's you guys! Due to the recent violence at town halls, many news outlets also mentioned how Senator Gregg's town hall was, by contrast polite and well mannered. Such as the Eagle Tribune:
When he arrived at the senior center just before 9 a.m. yesterday, he was greeted by a small group holding signs demanding health care reform. But the dozens of people in attendance remarked at how civil the discussions were inside.

Although Senator Gregg continues to remain opposed to key elements of reform, such as the public health plan option, an important element in reducing prices and providing competition with private insurance, our activists were present expressing their support for reforming our system to providing the kind of quality, affordable health care that the people of New Hampshire need:
However, Senator Gregg DID admit that the 'death panels' which have been so highly touted by anti-reform activists are nothing more than an extremist scare tactic. From the Concord Monitor:
Gregg dismissed the charge by some Republicans, including former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, that Democrats want to establish "death panels" to judge whether a person could receive care. Gregg described talk of death panels as "hyperbole.""There's no death panels that I'm aware of," he said.

With the continued support of dedicated activists such as yourself, we will win the battle for health care reform this year. Quality, affordable health care will not have to wait!
