In case you missed it...

Ads give thanks to (some) members of the House: Today, SEIU released new television ads thanking members in eight Congressional Districts for standing up to big insurance and taking real action for healthcare reform through the Affordable Health Care for America Act. Pats on the back went to Reps. Hill, Ellsworth and Joe Donnelly from Indiana, Rep. Michaud from Maine, Rep. Pomeroy from North Dakota, Rep. Hodes from New Hampshire, Rep. Titus from Nevada and Rep Perriello from Virginia.

Here's the ad thanking Rep. Titus:

Goldman Sachs shareholders don't want to share the wealth: The WSJ reports that each Goldman Sachs employee is forecasted to earn an average salary of over $700,000 in 2009--and shareholders aren't happy about it. They've asked to shrink the size of its bonus pool and give more to investors.

Andy Stern to Lloyd Blankfein: Get Real: In Huffington Post piece today, Andy Stern responds to Lloyd Blankfein's latest attempt at a good news PR blitz with some harsh reality about Goldman Sachs.

If Lloyd Blankfein really wants to know why he has an "image problem," he should leave his corner office at 85 Broad St. in Manhattan and head up to 184 W 237th St. in the Bronx. That's where 150 employees baked cookies at the Stella D'Oro factory for more than 80 years until it closed last month.

Tell Goldman Sachs that if they really want to show a commitment to small businesses, they should start with the Stella D'Oro factory in the Bronx.

#1 Wine comes from Union Label: Wine Spectator's pick for the No. 1 wine in the world for 2009 is Columbia Crest's Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Reserve 2005. Congrats to the UFW members who helped pick the grapes that went into this delicious red.

Nebraska Ambulance Tour Highlights Need for Healthcare Reform: With the healthcare bill now in the Senate, Nebraska supporters last week launched a "Vote Yes" ambulance tour to rally grassroots activists and apply pressure on Senators Johanns and Nelson for reform legislation. Want to help? Adopt Nebraska's Senator Ben Nelson through SEIU's Adopt-A-State campaign.

Going after Wage Theft in Ohio: SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH member and registered nurse State Senator Sue Morano (D-Lorain) held a news conference at the Ohio Statehouse yesterday to discuss the Wage Protection Act (SB 212). The bill would give the Department of Commerce more abilities to investigate wage theft beyond the scope of minimum wage.
