Number of the Day: 98

According to the most recent data from the Treasury Department, Bank of America holds more than 1 million troubled mortgages. Of those, over 156,000 entered a trial program to receive help. But guess how many of those homeowners the banking giant helped by permanently modifying the terms of their loan? 98.

Not 98,000. Not 9,800. Just 98.

You would've thought that when the banking giant got back on its feet thanks to taxpayers' money, they would hold up their end of the bargain by showing an extraordinary commitment to help rebuild our economy. Sadly, this didn't happen.

BofA's paltry efforts (98!) to help struggling families stay in their homes is beyond disappointing--and it's time to hold Bank of America accountable for the pain they're causing our economy and our communities. Tonight at 8:00 pm ET (5:00 pm PT) in Antioch, California, homeowners from People Improving Communities through Organizing (PICO) are meeting face-to-face with a team of Bank of America executives.

Want to watch the action unfold in the first public negotiation session since the financial crisis erupted between homeowners and bank execs? You can--the event will be live streamed www.piconetwork.org/keepfamiliesinhomes.
