It's been an amazing morning. At 11:15 a.m. today at the White House, President Obama signed into law the historic health care reform legislation that passed the House of Representatives on Sunday night. "Today, after almost a century of trying, today, after over a year of debate, today, after all the votes have been tallied, health insurance reform becomes law in the United States of America," said Obama. "In a few moments when I sign this bill, all of the overheated rhetoric of reform will finally confront the reality of reform."
Those that were present at the signing ceremony--the more than 200 lawmakers, members of Congress, doctors and nurses and regular Americans who will benefit from the bill--erupted into cheers. There was definitely some cheering and fist pumping in our office as well, as all of us watched history in the making take place.

What's next: Now that the health care bill is signed into law, the Senate will begin work on the House-passed revisions. Debate will be limited to 20 hours, based on the rules of the budget reconciliation process, so hopefully we'll see that come to a close by early Thursday. Then next week, there will be a series of votes on amendments that will have no time limit.
