Earlier today, our immigration reform team sent out an email to supporters asking them to write their Senators to ask them to keep the focus on job legislation legislation--not play politics and make the debate about immigration policy.

As the U.S. Senate continues to work this week on jobs legislation for out of work and working Americans, some Republican Senators are playing the "blame immigrants" game in another thinly-veiled excuse to kill a jobs bill that Americans desperately need.
We've been here before. They'll introduce a flood of anti-immigrant, anti-worker amendments to hold jobs legislation hostage. In particular, some Republicans will try to make mandatory the deeply flawed enforcement program--E-Verify--which is riddled with errors and has repeatedly been shown to cause unfair layoffs of U.S. citizen workers.
Don't let the Republicans get away with holding the jobs bill hostage.
With more than 20 percent of Americans either out of work or underemployed, Congress should be focused like a laser on helping struggling Americans by fostering job creation and extending COBRA and unemployment insurance--not cynically using their anti-immigration agenda to block real progress.
Just last week, the Department of Homeland Security released findings from a study that found that E-Verify is failing to catch more than half of the unauthorized workers it checks.
These Republican senators aren't interested in using E-Verify to protect American workers, they're using it as E-Deny to create more bureaucratic red tape, slow down job creation, and jeopardize the jobs of millions of U.S. citizens.
Working families need bold policy solutions that lift wages, create quality jobs and get our economy back on track.
Tell your Senator that leadership isn't about scoring political points, its about solving problems.
In solidarity,
Joaquin Guerra
