Joined by coalition partners, SEIU members march against SB1070 in Boston

When members of Congress returned home for the Memorial Day recess, they were greeted by thousands of SEIU members rallying for comprehensive immigration reform. Members delivered a simple message: our system is broken; the need for comprehensive immigration reform is urgent and we expect both Democrats and Republicans to lead on this issue.

In Houston, SEIU members together with students, faith, labor and civil rights leaders visited the offices of Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to call on the Senator to show leadership by supporting comprehensive immigration reform.

In Boston, members of SEIU Local 615 took to the streets, marching from the Massachusetts Statehouse to the office of Senator Scott Brown to protest Arizona's SB1070 and advocate for comprehensive immigration reform.

Also on the activists' agenda: protesting a piece of anti-immigrant legislation that recently failed--but only by narrow margins--in the Massachusetts legislature. Included in the list of speakers at the rally was Local 615 President, Rocio Saenz, as well as SEIU International Executive VP Eliseo Medina.
