SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania is a progressive union of 23,000 health care workers all across the state. Our members work in nursing homes, hospitals, state institutions and as home health care aids. Position Overview

The Database Administrator will play a key role in maintaining and further developing the union's data organization and infrastructure. The Database Administrator will ensure the highest level of data integrity by monitoring data collection and input processes, and proposing changes and improvements where necessary. Working with outside vendors and union staff, the Database Administrator will lead the ongoing development of our data systems and bring an analytical approach to trouble-shooting and problem-solving that system.

The successful candidate will work with staff at all levels of the organization to interpret data, integrate new data, and create reports. He or she will also be responsible for training staff throughout the organization on database use as it relates to their work.

The Database Administrator is a Program Staff position which reports directly to the elected officers of the union.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary administrator of the union’s membership, organizing and political databases.
  • Continue to streamline the integration of these databases and our financial software into one cohesive data system.
  • Develop processes to standardize and expand data collection.
  • Work with the union’s Dues Administrator to transition our employers from submitting monthly hard copy reports to submitting electronic data files capable of being imported into our data systems.
  • Provide the data system support needed, including tracking and reporting of key performance metrics, for the implementation of the union's strategic and long range plans.
  • Conduct extensive training with all staff to maximize the utilization of our data systems.
Qualifications:
  • A strong understanding of relational databases.
  • Strong ETL and data manipulation skills.
  • Experience in standardizing data collection methods.
  • Proficiency in using MS Access to write custom queries and reports from data extracted from other databases.
  • Experience managing vendor relations and contracting.
  • Have an expertise in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail coupled with an aptitude for problem-solving.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing needs and deadlines.
Preferences:
  • BA or BS in either Computer Science or Information Technologies.
  • Significant experience in database operation, administration, query and report writing.
  • A strong commitment to social and economic justice.
Compensation: Salary range depends on experience. A full benefit package including healthcare, pension, 401K, etc. is provided.
