"David Bennett, RN with colleague Sukie Ream
David first ran to fill former State Senator John Revens' seat in 2008 but lost the 2008 primary by a slim margin of 10 votes. Now, he's back at it and us running a much smarter and stronger campaign by employing the campaign tools he learned through the SEIU Member Candidate Program. He's not only secured the endorsements of Rhode Island's SEIU locals, but also the NEA and AFSCME.
David was inspired to run when the issue of mandatory overtime for nurses was circulating in the State Senate and his Senator Revens wasn't listening to the constituents. And when the School Committee decided to close three elementary schools later that year, he noticed again that the public's input mattered little. David will change that and will be an elected official that listens to the people and always has an open door.
