Today marks the final day of SEIU's 4-day bus tour from San Diego to San Jose, California where Executive President Eliseo Medina, USWW President Mike Garcia, ULTCW Secretary-Treasurer Ana Duarte, and other prominent faith and labor leaders have motivated hundreds of Latinos to register and commit to vote this November.
Led by SEIU Locals USWW, ULTCW, UHW, 521, 99, 721, UHW, 221, and with support from the California Teachers Association, UFW and other prominent faith and community leaders, the "Por Nuestras Familias - ¡Todos a Votar!" (For Our Families: Everyone go Vote!) tour holds its final rally and voter registration drive today in San Jose, California.

Since the bus tour kicked off Friday in San Diego, it has met with great success--helping to register voters like Rosa Arellano in Bakersfield who told ABC Bakersfield yesterday that, "Life wasn't so difficult before where I felt the need to vote. But now with the economy and immigration issues in Arizona, it's a lot more important to me to vote."

With stops in Riverside, Santa Ana, Los Angeles, Bakersfield and Fresno, among others, the bus tour has registered hundreds of Latinos like Arellano and motivated many more to ensure they get friends and neighbors to make their voices heard in November.
Currently, Latinos make up 32 percent of the California adult population eligible to vote, yet they represent only 20 percent of the state's registered voters. In response, the bus tour has been embraced by community partners, local media outlets, and faith leaders calling for Latinos to participate in the political process and elect leaders who will address the issues they care about: good jobs, education and healthcare.
