SEIU Local 500 members contribute to Maryland school district winning national quality award #default

seiu500_Montgomerycelebration.jpgThe 8,500 bus drivers, maintenance workers, para-educators, and other dedicated school workers of SEIU Local 500 are celebrating this week. The employees of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) are proud to be part of a school system which has been named one of seven winners of a national presidential award that recognizes innovation and leadership.

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award cited "high levels of employee satisfaction" among the district's performance results.

In a recent op-ed, SEIU Local 500 President Merle Cuttita wrote this:

"I've often heard principals and parents remark on the fact that within MCPS every adult who interacted with a student in any way understands he or she has an opportunity to make a difference for that student, be it as a role model, a shoulder to lean on, an example of pride in good work, or simply a smiling face."

SEIU Local 500 members certainly agree! Read the rest of SEIU Local 500 President Merle Cuittita's op-ed, and please feel free to offer words of congratulations (in the comments section below) to members for the role they played in helping MCPS secure this outstanding honor.
