Over the past few days, a whole host of national opinion leaders have weighed in on the attacks on the middle class in Wisconsin. And their opinions have been almost unanimous - Governor Walker's attacks on working people are unfounded and unacceptable.
Here's a round up of some of the best opinion pieces this weekend:
From Paul Krugman at the New York Times:
"Mainly, however, [Walker] has made it clear that rather than bargaining with workers, he wants to end workers' ability to bargain."
From Ezra Klein at the Washington Post:
"Let's be clear: Whatever fiscal problems Wisconsin is -- or is not -- facing at the moment, they're not caused by labor unions. That's also true for New Jersey, for Ohio and for the other states.
"[What Walker is doing is] attacking the right to bargain collectively -- which is to say, he's attacking the very foundation of labor unions, and of worker power -- and using an economic crisis unions didn't cause, and a budget reversal that Walker himself helped create, to justify it."
From Jonathan Capehart at The Washington Post:
"Walker is not interested in talking to anyone. He simply wants to crush the public-service employee unions."
