While you Listen...Send a message in support of the protesters in Wisconsin (Link opens in a new window so you can keep listening).
There are not many American rock and roll bands that stand in solidarity with the union movement as much as the Dropkick Murphys.
So it comes as no surprise that the band has released an advanced stream of a new song "Take 'Em Down" in support of the thousands of Wisconsin union workers and supporters protesting the draconian budget plan put forth by the state's governor.
As part of the band's efforts to support the workers, they are working with SEIU and other unions and labor federations to have the song available to be played at rallies across the country. Listen to it here:
The band, in a statement released today, said,
"[We] would like to take a moment to acknowledge the struggles of the working people of Wisconsin and to pledge our support and solidarity by releasing the song 'Take Em Down' from our upcoming album. We think it's appropriate at the moment and hope you like it... The Dropkick Murphys Stand With Wisconsin!!!!!"
While this is a fantastic show of support and solidarity, the group didn't stop there -- they've also created a limited edition "Take 'Em Down" T-shirt. Sales of the shirt will benefit the Workers' Rights Emergency Response Fund. The shirt is available for purchase at their site's merchandise page here.
