Honoring Dr. King on April 4: We Are One #default

MLK_marching.jpgOn April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, where he stood with sanitation workers demanding the right to bargain collectively and pursue their dream of a better life.

Today that same dream is electrifying people all across America -- working people, students, faith leaders, black, white, Latino and Asian Americans. On April 4, 2011, and the days surrounding it, we will stand together with working people in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and other states where politicians backed by corporate CEOs are trying to take away the rights Dr. King gave his life for.

Join us to make April 3rd and April 4th days of solidarity by signing up for an event in your area, or starting your own action to commemorate the death of Dr. King.

These are some of the ways that others will be standing up strong for all working people in Dr. King's honor:

  • Wear red and a "We Are One" sticker to worship and to work
  • Host an event at your faith community
  • Stage a solidarity walk at your work site
  • Hold a moment of silence at noon in your work place
  • Leaflet about corporate actors behind the anti-worker attacks
  • Join in rallies or any other demonstrations to show your support for the American Dream

Please join us.
