Workers From Wisconsin, Ohio And Indiana Testify on Capitol Hill On Attacks On Middle Class Families #workers-rights

Yesterday afternoon, Ohio SEIU District 1199 members Tom Guyer and Lynn Radcliffe joined workers from Wisconsin and Indiana to testify at a hearing of the House Democratic Steering Committee on the attacks facing middle class families.

Tom Guyer, a registered Republican, parole officer and U.S. Army veteran, said that "Politicians in my home state of Ohio and many other states are making proposals for so-called 'budget repairs' that are really a toolkit for not only shattering our fragile economic recovery, but for putting our public safety at risk, too."

Lynn Radcliffe, who works in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, asked Congress "not to let anyone destroy what remains of the working class" and pledged that workers would "work side by side with you to reweave the sturdy economic fabric of Ohio and our great country."

Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) closed out the hearing by by saying the struggle for workers' rights will determine the character of the country:

In these fights over workers' rights, our economic future is at stake. Indeed, the character of our country is at stake.
