| Summary: | This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the finance operation of a large New York City based union. The position is tasked with implementing the highest level of financial performance, strategic planning, reporting and analysis.
The position is also responsible for ensuring that transactional operations of the Union are executed efficiently and in compliance with internal controls.
This position will be active in developing and implementing policies to create a highly effective financial operation in service of the Union’s goals.
As a Director within 32BJ, this position will be required to operate with a high level of discretion, judgment and integrity as a steward of member financial resources.

| Description: | - Support 32BJ in ensuring the financial integrity of the Union and informing high-level decision-making processes
- Organize and support accounting teams focused on Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger to meet the objectives within their areas, the objectives of the department and the objectives of the Union.
- Responsible for effective financial controls and ensuring that all accounting policies, procedures and records are compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), the Union’s policies and state and federal laws and regulations.
- Recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff; has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet Union needs and objectives; evaluates the performance of personnel in the department; determines training requirements; determines personnel to be hired or removed
- Direct production of and review of regulatory reports, including IRS form 990, Department of Labor LM-2, Beck-Hudson, political spending reports and reports required by banks and other institutions. Manages the production of additional tax filings through external CPA firm
- Manages external audits of 32BJ on an annual basis and provides all required information
- Recommend and manage changes in financial operations and policies to match the changing environment of a growing and dynamic organization
- Develop and recommend key financial performance indicators
- Design and provide the organization with appropriate metrics that measure financial results against multiple strategic priorities
- Recommend and supervise the implementation of financial technology, policy and process changes
- Oversee and continually evaluate the transactional accounting operation to ensure accuracy, internal control and efficiency standards are met
- Insure reliable, timely reporting on the organization’s financial and strategic performance
- Responsible for annual income projections and high level technical support to development of budget
- Provide ongoing analysis of trends in receivable schedules and paid membership in 32BJ.

| Qualifications: | Master’s degree in business (MBA), or accounting and five (5) years experience including OR
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and ten (10) years experience with progressively increased responsibility
Staff management experience required.
CPA not required but preferred. |

- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with 32BJ managers and Officers in both written and oral presentation

- Ability to maintain flexible attitude and approach toward assignments and actively engage others in building teams
- Ability to structure and analyze complex financial reports
- Ability to calculate standard financial ratios (current, liquidity, turnover, etc.)
- Ability to think critically and analytically in linking financial data to qualitative information
- Ability to identify and communicate sensitive information appropriately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Familiarity with Solomon financial software, ADP reporting, Reportsmith, FRX Reporting and Small Buisness Financials.
