My name is Yesenia Conde and I am a resident of Hartford, Connecticut.
I am a mother of two children, both of whom are Care4Kids recipients. I work as a parent educator at Mi Casa Family Services and Educational Center, which is a premier provider of services for Hispanic youth here in Hartford. I hold various responsibilities in my current position, among them being doing individual and group counseling through home visits, and also putting together women's health workshops.
Despite having a full-time job that I love, I am not in a financial position to afford childcare for my kids. Without Care4Kids, I would not be able to keep my children in a daycare facility as it would be too expensive for me. It would mean that my entire paycheck would go into taking care of my daycare bill. The only reason I still able to go to work every day and continue to make a difference in my community, is because Care4Kids has eased this financial burden from me.
Through my Care4Kids provider, my children have not only been able to get quality care through the individualized attention, but I have also found a mother and a mentor. This has been of particular importance to me having been on Connecticut's DCF program my entire life.
