SEIU members in Maryland are sharing their support for same-sex marriage in a new video:
SEIU has long supported marriage equality and is proud to collaborate with Marylanders for Marriage Equality, the campaign to defend marriage equality at the ballot box in Maryland this November.
The video features 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East members talking about their beliefs in family, fairness, and standing up for what's right. One SEIU member and her partner share their family's story, including the four children they're raising together. Another SEIU says, "I believe in equality and fairness and standing up for what matters, because we're all in this together. That's why I'm supporting marriage equality."
On November 6, Maryland voters will see a referendum on the ballot to approve or reject the Civil Marriage Protection Act. Voting Yes supports the right of same-sex couples to marry, and if the referendum passes, same-sex couples will be able to get a marriage license in Maryland starting in January 2013.
