Rep. Todd Akin is running against Senator Claire McCaskill. Most recently, Akin commented on his opposer's campaign tactics, saying McCaskill "came out swinging" in last week's debate and characterized her as "aggressive," compared to her 2006 debate when he said she was much more "ladylike".
Seems like Akin has a hard time keeping his foot out of his mouth. Like when he called Medicare unconstitutional. Or when he voted to end Federal student loans, calling them a cancer. Seriously! He even voted against the creating of a national sex offender registry and against reauthorizing a program that helps homeless children. Just yesterday, Akin announced at a town hall that he opposes the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act because employers should have the freedom to discriminate.
That is why yesterday SEIU and Emily's List joined together to launch a television ad to educate Missouri voters about what is at stake this November. The $1 million ad buy is running on broadcast and cable channels across the state.
Senator Claire McCaskill will not only stand up for middle-class and working families against attacks from far-right extremists like Akin, she will advocate for policies that keep our country moving forward with an economy that is build to last and works for everyone.
