1.Why have you decided to join us in the field?
I decided to join this work because of the people that are hurting and the help that is needed. I felt with my experience and expertise in talking to people and working in the field, that it would be an enhancement to what Milwaukee is trying to do. I wanted to come here to help motivate the people and fight back as they try to restore the rights that have been taken away.
2. What does it mean to you to help President Obama get re-elected?
It means everything. Our present, and our future. It means to me that my children will have a job when they graduate. My daughter is getting her Masters in childhood education and would like to open her own business. There are a lot of young people coming out of school, and the military who need the opportunity to have these dreams and opportunities. Re-electing President Obama means a brighter future for us and the next generation. It gives us a chance to live and not just exist. President Obama for another 4 years means that we can actually live our dream. It gives us a chance.
3. How important and exciting it is to have a staffer join you in the field to meet the program goals?
It's extremely important. It gives me a sense of enthusiasm that we have new folks who can help breakdown the language barriers with our Latino brothers and sisters.
4. How tough it is to leave your family? How important it is for our communities and working families to get President Obama elected?
I feel like I'm missing a part of myself. I know how important this work is, but I'm missing my soulmate. We've never been apart like this, but my wife sends prayers to me every day and supports this work. She feels the same way I do, that we need someone who supports our best interests, those of the working families. My children are telling their friends at school that their daddy isn't a politician, but that I'm working to help our nation by supporting the President. My wife has joined me here now and she's praying for our effort, our success and all of the people involved in this campaign. Through staying involved in my work, she hears feedback from other folks. She hears it's important to push the President, and this gives me an increased sense of urgency of what needs to be done. Because of the issues of the nation and the people who are affected by them, we have no choice but to see success. We will have the victory.
