I am very involved in this election. Re- electing Obama is very important to me because he is my only hope for immigration reform.
I am an immigrant from Honduras and a single mother of three who came to this country 18 years ago because I want the American Dream.
To help realize my American Dream, I am volunteering on the campaign to re-elect President Obama. I volunteer my time to go out and talk to voters because Obama is a president that comes from a working family.
I've been talking to voters in California and I also volunteered to go to Nevada for the weekend and talk to voters there. While I was canvassing in Las Vegas, I came across a voter who is Mexican American. He spoke to me about the number of deportations under Obama and I thought, "Oh no, this is going to be a hard conversation!" But then as we talked, he said that he finally understands that for Obama to give us immigration reform there also has to be enforcement of our borders. There are a lot of pieces to immigration reform, it is complicated.
He said that his children were applying for the DREAM Act permit and that he is very excited for them to be able to get their Social Security cards and licenses to work. Obama gave this man hope again.
After we spoke, he said he wanted an Obama Biden lawn-sign and he wanted to sign-up to volunteer for the campaign, too.
