SEIU’s Henry: SEIU ground force helps Clinton clinch nomination

Clinton knows the struggle of all those who have to break barriers

WASHINGTON—SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry issued the following statement on Hillary Clinton’s historic victory in the Democratic primary:

“SEIU member volunteers have come out by the thousands, starting in Iowa all the way through California and New Jersey, knocking doors, making calls and rallying to get out the vote for Hillary Clinton. In state after state, they have said she is the only candidate for the job because she has the experience and track record, and has proven that she knows the struggle all Americans who have to break barriers to get ahead face--immigrants, people of color, underpaid workers, women and members of the LGBTQ community.

“Her life’s passion has been about how to break down her barriers in her own life and in her career. Throughout it all she has fought for the things working people need to get ahead: better wages, affordable care for our children and parents, immigrant and racial justice. She has proved that she understands the gross inequality a vast majority of Americans deal with everyday. Our members know that the stakes this November couldn't be higher and they have known all along that Clinton is the only clear choice this election.  SEIU’s two million members will continue to march forward in unprecedented numbers, and join together in the largest coalition of progressive and labor allies to date to win for our families by taking Hillary Clinton to victory in November.
