Miami, FL -- In March 2005, nurses at Parkway Regional Medical Center became the newest members of the Nurse Alliance of SEIU in South Florida. They joined nurses at St. Mary's in West Palm Beach, Jackson Memorial, Cedars Medical Center, and Pan American Hospital—all in Miami—as bedside caregivers who have decided to band together for patient care.
More than 1,500 nurses, technicians, aides, and support staff at Cedars Medical Center launched a united effort to secure their first contract following their impressive union election victory. Some 500 RNs voted 217 to 132 for SEIU Local 1991 and about 1,000 technicians and service staff voted 433 to 297 for SEIU Local 1199FL.
Dubuque, IA -- A unit of 300 RNs at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa, overcame a tough anti-union campaign waged by their employer and voted 169 to 115 to join SEIU Local 199.
Weirton, WV -- Nurses at Weirton Medical Center in West Virginia vote to join together for better staffing, benefits, and patient care. More »

Indio, CA -- More than 500 registered nurses, radiology technologists, respiratory therapists and certified nursing assistants at JFK Memorial Hospital voted to join SEIU Locals 399 and 121RN.
West Hills, CA -- At West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, RNs, LVNs, radiology techs, and other hospital workers totaling 600 voted to improve staffing and patient care by forming a union with SEIU. “I love the small, community feel at our hospital. We all know each other, and we work together as a team,” said Stella Chavez, an RN in the intensive care unit. A.J.Tuttobene, a respiratory care practicioner, said, “We’re all committed to patient care, so it’s just natural that we all united in the same union.”
Riverside, CA -- More than 1,400 registered and licensed vocational nurses, radiology technologists, respiratory care practitioners, certified nursing assistants, and housekeeping and food service staff at Riverside Community Hospital voted to join SEIU Locals 399 and 121RN.
Moreno Valley, CA -- More than 300 employees of Moreno Valley Community Hospital, including registered and licensed vocational nurses, officially chose to have a voice in care.
Burbank, CA -- RNs seeking improvements in nurse-patient ratios and other working conditions at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center voted to unite with SEIU nurses. Recently, the NLRB determined that a majority of RNs successfully voted to form their union during that vote count. "The time has come for the hospital administration to accept the fact that we have made our choice and begin working with us to maintain quality patient care at St. Joe's," said Cindy Triola, an RN at St. Joseph for 27 yrs.
Pomona Valley, CA -- More than 700 RNs at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center voted "YES" in a landslide election to join SEIU nurses.
