Being Part of the National Movement to Unite Nurses

Ingela DahlgrenThe Nurse Alliance of SEIU Flight Team—and the new Virtual Flight Team—is powered by professionals like Ingela Dahlgren, an SEIU registered nurse at Northridge Hospital in California.

Ingela and her fellow RNs joined SEIU Local 121RN as a way to improve patient care at their hospital and win better wages and working conditions. Today, she is spreading the word to not-yet-union nurses that joining together in a union to work for improvements in the profession and in the quality of care for patients is the way to go.

She is a member of the Nurse Alliance of SEIU Flight Team, whose members spend time—whether it's a weekend across town or a month across the country—meeting and talking with nurses.

Ingela has worked in a hospital since the age of 17, and has been a critical care nurse for more than two decades. She says a Flight Team assignment can be one of the most rewarding experiences a nurse can have. "Getting out and talking with other nurses about working together in SEIU is such a positive experience. And besides that, it's also a blast."
