Homecare Workers Need Better Working Conditions
Overtime protection for home care workers is a win-win for all concerned. The more money we make, the more likely we are to stay at this job, the more we have to spend on local businesses and the more taxes we pay. And in the state of Virginia, paying home care workers the overtime pay they've worked would save our state lots of money by keeping people out of nursing homes.
Appalling: Virginia Senate Republicans' radical redistricting bill
While one Democratic legislator was traveling to Washington, D.C. for President Obama's second inauguration on January 20th, Republicans in the Senate rammed through legislation to redraw Senate districts and make them more favorable to Republicans. If the redistricting bill becomes law, there will be major changes to all 40 state Senate districts, with up to 45 percent of Virginians being moved into new, gerrymandered districts for strictly partisan reasons.
