By Eva Rodriguez, Subway Worker, Los Angeles, CA
I’m not someone with a lot of money. I struggle to find money for food every day. I have to fight to have a place to live.
So when I learned that over the 10 years I've worked at Subway, they stole over $100,000 in wages and penalties from me, I knew I had to act.
Wage theft is everywhere. 1 in 4 workers in LA have had an average of $3,500 illegally stolen from them by bosses, and Black and Latinx workers are significantly more likely to have their wages stolen.
Could you afford to lose $3,500? What about almost 30 times that much?

The truth is, bosses steal from us because they think they can get away with it.
I’m determined to prove them wrong, and luckily I have fellow union members who have my back.
We came together here in California to form the California Fast Food Workers Union. It was a hard fight but we persisted because we know we're much more powerful together than on our own.
That’s why I’m certain I’ll win back what I’m owed, and more. That’s why I’ll fight alongside my fellow union members, like I did when McDonald’s workers went on strike. A harm to one is a harm to all.
