Our movement, whether it's demanding a seat at the table or demanding respect and dignity for all people, no matter who they are, is defined by solidarity. When workers from across the globe stand up to injustice together, we show a united front, we show the world that if you hurt one of us, you hurt us all.
Messages of labor solidarity poured in from over 15 countries and three Global Union Federations immediately after SEIU California and SEIU-USWW President David Huerta was injured and unlawfully detained by ICE agents while standing up for immigrants’ rights.

"Huerta was standing in solidarity with immigrant workers during a time of crisis. His arrest is not only an attempt to silence a labour leader—it is a disturbing signal that holding power accountable can itself be treated as a crime."
— UNI Global Union (posting on Bluesky)
"Huerta, a lifelong advocate for immigrant and workers’ rights, was acting as a community observer—upholding the highest principles of the labor movement by standing against injustice, even at personal risk. His arrest is part of a broader, cruel escalation of attacks on working people and immigrants across the United States.
PSI denounces the Trump regime’s mobilization of the National Guard, the deployment of militarized police, and the threat of military force against civilians. These actions represent a grotesque abuse of power, targeting vulnerable communities and undermining democracy."
— Public Services International (posting on Bluesky)
Huerta was freed from federal custody on June 9, three days after his unjust detainment.
We will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our global union allies in demanding:
> End ICE raids and the use of the military against our communities
> Drop the unjust charge against David Huerta
> Oppose the dangerous increase in ICE funding and violence against our communities.
