David Ott (He/Him/His) is an active LGBTQ union member with years of union and healthcare experience. He has spent his working life in nursing at a Hospital, with most of those years working in Surgical Services.

As a local SEIU Health Care Wisconsin member, David has been on the Board of Directors serving on the Building, Political Programs, Legislative, and Arbitration Committees. In addition to serving on the Board, David has been a Union Steward, Council Co-Chair and has negotiated several labor contracts.

David has been active at the SEIU International level serving his third, four-year term on the Lavender Caucus Board of Directors as the Membership Chair. He also currently serves as the Treasurer of the Central Region and served as the Co-Chair prior to his current role as Treasurer. David has attended SEIU International Conventions and was a participant in a National Lobby Day in Washington, DC. Outside of SEIU, he is also a member of Pride at Work.

In addition to having a strong union focus, David’s past volunteer efforts include serving on the Wisconsin HIV Prevention Planning Council and volunteering at Madison’s OutReach LGBTQ Community Center as a member of the Speakers Bureau and working the phone lines to provide peer and crisis counseling along with referral services.

David believes it is critical to have a strong union fighting the rights of all individuals, especially its LGBTQ members.

David Zeller (He/Him/His) has been a treasurer of the national lavender caucus since 2012. He has been a rank and file member of the lavender caucus since 2004. He is an honored retiree member of SEIU WI. David was a steward of his chapter for 30 years before retirement. He served on the bargaining team and as Chapter President. He served the Local on the board, as secretary, vice president and as a member of the finance committee, arbitration committee, delegate to the south federation of labor, and served as secretary to SEIU state council. David is passionate about equality, workers rights and fair pay. David has lived through Act 10 in Wisconsin.

Gwen Goodfellow (they/her) is a labor and LGBTQIA2s+ advocate dedicated to expanding power, visibility, and equity for queer workers across the labor movement. They serve as Secretary of the SEIU International Lavender Caucus, President of the Western Region, and President of SEIU 775’s Lavender Caucus. Gwen also sits on the SEIU 775 Executive Board as a Member at Large, representing and uplifting the voices of more than 60,000 caregivers.

For seven years, Gwen has been a committed member-leader within SEIU 775, helping drive policy, political action, and mobilizing caregivers to take action in their communities. Their leadership includes serving on the CDWA Bargaining Team, participating in the Washington State Rate-setting Board, Caregiver Lobby Day, and regularly testifying in Olympia to champion caregivers, LGBTQ+ workers, and long-term care issues. They also engage in federal advocacy around Medicaid and long-term care funding.

Gwen is active in the Member Political Organizer Teams and Member-to-Member Specialist Teams when called upon. They served as a delegate to the Washington State Labor Council and are a proud member of AFL-CIO Pride at Work.

Across every role, Gwen’s focus remains steadfast: building a labor movement where every worker — especially queer, trans, and marginalized caregivers — are seen, protected, and empowered.

Travis B. Simon is a Vice President of the International SEIU Lavender Caucus and the current Director of Political and Legislative Affairs for SEIU 500. A passionate leader and advocate for LGBTQIA+ people and working families, Simon serves on the Board of Directors of AFL-CIO’s Pride at Work as SEIU’s representative. He has worked on the national Respect for Marriage Act which was signed into law by President Biden in 2022 and sits on the national Equality Act Steering Committee.

During his tenure at SEIU, Simon has worked in broad coalitions to expand the collective bargaining rights for tens of thousands of working people. Through his strong leadership and collaborative spirit, Simon has helped improve the working conditions and secure fair wages for workers across the DMV region. A passionate champion for workers’ rights and LGBTQIA+ equality, Simon believes in the power of a union and that no one should be discriminated against based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. An avid history enthusiast, he lives in Northern Virginia with his husband, Daniel and their dog and cat.

I am an elected SEIU Local 509 leader and gay labor activist, honored to serve as Treasurer for the SEIU International Lavender Caucus Eastern Region. In my role as Vice President for the Southeast Region of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services employees’ chapter, I focus on building equity, safety, and true inclusion for LGBTQIA+ workers and am committed to growing SEIU 509’s LGBTQIA+ Committee as a strong, visible voice across our union and the broader community.

Guillermo Mendoza-Lujan BSN, RN, PHN is Emergency Room Nurse dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care in fast-paced and high-pressure environments. He also a proud active union member and the current Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU 121RN, where he works to organize, represent, and advocate for nurses and healthcare workers fighting for fair wages, safe staffing, strong contracts, and the protections every worker deserves.

Within his union, He is an active voice in multiple caucuses. Guillermo is a part of the SEIU Lavender Caucus at the international level and for the Western Region, and he serves as Chair of the Lavender Caucus at SEIU 121RN, uplifting and advocating for LGBTQIA+ members. He is a member of the SEIU Latino Caucus and the SEIU International Indigenous Peoples Caucus, where he works to ensure diverse voices are represented, respected, and empowered within our union and beyond.

As an active COPE Committee member and legislative and political advocate, he is deeply engaged in advancing policies that strengthen our healthcare system and uplift working families at a state level and federal level. His advocacy centers on fighting for workers’ rights, supporting immigrant communities, uplifting LGBTQIA+ voices, standing with Indigenous communities, and championing regional center and foster care systems that truly serve those in need.

At the core of everything Guillermo is committed to advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are not overlooked.

Outside of his professional and advocacy roles, he is a proud father, a devoted husband, and a foster parent. These roles ground him, inspire his work and reinforce his dedication to building a more just, compassionate, and equitable future for families and all communities.
